Data policies

Policy

Our production guidelines are based on the Print Media Standard 2010 of the German Printing and Media Industries Federation e.V. (bvdm), the ICC profiles of the European Initiative (ECI) as well as on the standard ISO 12647-2:2004 (PSO). We are happy to make the Print Media Standard 2010 available to you upon request.

Requirements:

  • PDF-X (CMYK/Offset-Standard)

  • documents in the single-page mode

  • at least 3 mm for trimming

  • trim marks, 3 mm away from the final format

  • all fonts embedded

  • correctly defined overprinting/omitting

  • files are named according to page number (f. ex. 001_catalogue_2009.pdf)

For the creation of the PDF we recommend the latest version of the Adobe Distiller PPD.

If you request the processing of your open data, please contact us in order to discuss the additional time, costs and expenditure involved.

General information

Data must be created with the same profile as the proof. For all data we require binding templates: For reasons of factual accuracy print-outs, B/W copies or faxes have to be supplied. For accuracy of colour, you must provide us with digital proofs which have an Ugra/ FOGRA media wedge as well as an info line. Colour deviation between the actual measured values of the examined media wedge and the nominal values set by the Ugra/FOGRA must lie within the tolerance specified by the Print Media Standard.

The creation of digital proofs is also possible by arrangement. It is necessary to send us test data for verification before production starts. Electronic archiving of the imposed printed sheets lies within our area of responsibility. We assume that the original layout data have been updated and maintained by you or your service provider. If corrections have to be made, we shall receive new PDF files of the respective pages to change.

Profiles for colour management

For achieving an optimal printing result you are requested to generate your data and proofs in conformity with the ICC profiles described below. If you have questions relating to the selection of the right profile, for example in the case of non-categorizable types of paper, we would of course be pleased to advise you.
